The treaty is the Agreement in respect of Gibraltar between the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community, of the one part, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, of the other part.

These are the same four grades as on the Laws in progress page. A grade is shown only on the cards of European Union () laws, proposals and procedures, of European Commission communications and of Gibraltar bills, that bear on goods coming into Gibraltar, the frontier with Spain, the airport, the port, Gibraltar’s businesses, residents’ rights or the treaty’s own entry into force. Other cards carry no grade.

Applies now (1) It applies in Gibraltar now, through the treaty.
Applies in part (1) Some parts apply, or they apply through Spain.
Applies after a step (16) It applies only after a named step, for example the adoption of a proposal, a notice the treaty provides for, or the decision that sets the date from which the EU customs and goods rules listed in the treaty apply in Gibraltar and declares that the border control posts and customs offices at the port and airport are set up, working and controlled as that decision sets out and that within the EU have been named.

Does not apply (5) In the library this grade has two uses. Cards for the EU’s own decisions, proposals and procedures to sign, conclude or provisionally apply the treaty carry it: the texts read do not list them among the EU rules the treaty brings to Gibraltar. A card whose grade is held because the texts read leave a point open carries it too; that card says which point, and its grade is then not a statement that the act does not apply to Gibraltar.

Regulation 2: 'These Regulations come into operation on the Implementation Date.' Section 6(2) of the Treaty on Gibraltar and the European Union Act 2026 says: 'Except where the contrary is expressed or implied, a reference in this Act to "the Implementation Date" includes a reference to any Provisional Implementation Date and to the General Implementation Date.' A Provisional Implementation Date is a date agreed under Article 336(2) of the Agreement in respect of Gibraltar between the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community, of the one part, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, of the other part for its provisional application.
